Learner Spotlight: Natalia Garcia-Urbina, 12th Grade

Natalia Garcia-Urbina

What languages do you speak? The languages I speak are English and Spanish.

What is the best part about knowing more than one language? I can communicate with others who do not speak English.

What is your favorite saying in your native language? “Tengo hambre,” which means “I am hungry.”

What is your favorite subject? My favorite subjects are Spanish and art.

What is a family tradition that you enjoy? Every break, we go to Big Bear.

What is your favorite hobby? My favorite hobbies are listening to music and playing with my pet hamster.

What advice would you give to someone trying to learn a new language? I would teach them how to say things in the language they want to learn.

How long have you been part of our independent study program? I have been in iLEAD for four years.

What do you like about independent study? I can focus more, and I can get the tutoring to help me and study with my family.

What career would you like to have? I would like to be a detective.
