Literature Day @ The OC Curriculum Library

October 16 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am PDT

Updated Literature Day 10-16 OC (1)

Your learner is invited to participate in Literature Day, a school celebration focused on books, reading, creativity, and storytelling. Learners will choose a favorite character from a book and prepare a simple costume or accessory. During the event, students will participate in a book character parade and a wax museum-style presentation. This event targets 1st-5th graders, but all are welcome to participate!  RSVP for the event HERE.

Learners should be prepared to share:

  • The book title and author
  • A brief summary of the book
  • A description of the character
  • Any other information (presentations should be 1-2 minutes total)
  • A closing remark like “thank-you” or something to signal the end of the presentation

You can find additional details and worksheets here.  This event is designed to celebrate literature and we welcome all learners to participate in a way that is comfortable and accessible.  Feel free to adapt your learner’s presentation to fit their needs!

We encourage learners to “shop their closet” and find already on-hand items to make their costume.  Costume Guidelines:

  • Comfortable and allows me to walk and sit
  • Allows me to walk safely.
  • Does not include a weapon or weapon-like object
  • Does not block my vision
  • Does not require expensive purchases.

Your learners will also get to watch other learners present their book character!
