Middle School Writing Lab @ the Acton Library: Parts of Speech

In the first part of this three part writing series, learners will be provided with pizza, writing materials, and word reference books like a thesaurus and dictionary. Parts of speech will be introduced and learners will use a graphic organizer to describe the pizza. Observations like sight, sound, touch, taste, and smell will be explored through nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs. Learners will advance on to verbals after a brief explanation and will be able to construct their own pizza-themed verbals (gerunds, infinitives, and participles). The purpose of this is to allow learners to engage with language and experiment with their own writing while in a fun pizza setting.
