OCC Planetarium
October 30 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am PDT

Come join us to discover space in a real planetarium! The experience begins in the lobby with an introduction to how astronomers study space and an exploration of the facility’s exhibits. Current highlights include a fascinating collection of meteorites, Orange County’s only Foucault pendulum, and NOAA’s Science on a Sphere.
Students then enter the impressive 50-foot dome theater, where a pre-show introduces the main themes of the feature film. A variety of educational films are available and align with NGSS standards.
Following the film, students enjoy a guided tour of the constellations visible in the night sky on the date of their visit, followed by a brief question-and-answer session with an astronomy student. Most field trip programs are led by current OCC students, providing a unique opportunity for students to learn from peers actively studying astronomy.
Field trips last approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.
