March 24 @ 9:30 am - 12:00 pm PDT

Discover the wonders of the ocean with the Ocean Institute’s Living Systems Lab field trip
Students dive into the fascinating world of marine biology as they explore how ocean organisms interact with their environments. Through hands-on lab activities, they investigate food chains, life cycles, adaptations, and the balance between living and non-living components of marine ecosystems.
This immersive experience includes a fish dissection to examine external and internal anatomy, water-quality testing to determine which species thrive in different conditions, and discussions about diverse marine habitats. Students also explore the life cycle of moon jellies and uncover their vital role in the food chain as both predator and prey.
