Pacific Opera Project’s “Gianni Schicchi” and “L’enfant et Les Sortilèges”

January 23 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

POP

Join iLEAD learners as we’re welcomed to Occidental College to view two, live opera performances by Pacific Opera Project (POP). The two operas being performed are short, fun, and very kid friendly. Gianni Schicchi is a comic opera based on a hilarious incident of greed and mistaken identity, taken from Dante’s Divine Comedy. It was written by the famous Giacomo Puccini. The second opera being presented is L’enfant et Les Sortilèges (The Child and The Spells) by Maurice Ravel. This opera depicts a magical world where a young, spoiled boy is caught off guard when the toys he has been abusing come to life.

Education Experience: POP performers will teach visiting students about the instruments in an orchestra, different voice types, practicing, careers in music, and much more. Students and teachers will also receive an educational packet with detailed information about each opera, the performers, and what to expect when seeing a live show.

Per venue, please only bring learners/siblings in grades 4-12. Please, only one adult attendee per family.

Tickets are $2 and will become available Dec 3 at 10am.

This field trip is for iLEAD learners and their families only. No refunds available after purchase.
