About Farah
Farah was born in Tucson, Arizona, and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. She attended a small private school through middle and high school, then experienced a major shift when she began her undergraduate studies at a large university. Inspired by her math teachers, Farah knew early on that she wanted to pursue a career in education. She began her college journey at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where she was accepted into the School of Education. Farah graduated with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a minor in mathematics from UNLV (Go Rebels!).
After teaching for a year in Las Vegas, she moved to Seattle to be closer to family and spent nine years teaching in a large Washington school district. During that time she earned a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction with an emphasis in technology from the University of Washington (Go Huskies!) and met the love of her life, who later became her husband.
Six years into their marriage, Farah and her husband welcomed their daughter, followed by their son 19 months later. With a strong desire to be present for her children’s early years, Farah chose to step away from the classroom to focus on raising her family. She embraced the opportunity to weave learning into everyday life, creating engaging, hands-on experiences for her children.
Now with her children aged 15 and 13, Farah continues to nurture their growth while making learning a part of life both inside and outside the home. As a family, they love traveling the world, biking, snow skiing, spending time at their Big Bear cabin, and enjoying time together at home. This year, Farah is excited to partner with independent-study families, bringing her passion for teaching and her dedication to student success to each new learning journey.
