About Joan
With nine years of teaching experience, Joan brings a strong background in education and a focus on nurturing each student’s growth through customized, learner‑focused instruction. She earned her B.A. in Human Development with a minor in Psychology from UC San Diego, received her teaching credential from CSU Northridge, and completed her M.A. in Education at Point Loma Nazarene University. Throughout her career, she has served in a variety of roles, including math and reading intervention and as a classroom teacher for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades. She is deeply committed to building meaningful connections with families and supporting each learner in reaching their full potential.
Joan lives in Seal Beach with her husband and two boys and enjoys traveling, spending quality time with her family, and growing her collection of houseplants. She also cooks regularly—not out of passion, but out of necessity to keep a house full of hungry boys fed.
