Born and raised in southern California, Kari Stone has been an educator in and outside of the classroom for over 25 years. She received her teaching credential from CSULB and went on to teach elementary school in four different school districts in Los Angeles and Orange County. After the birth of her second child, Kari “tried on” homeschooling for size and decided it was a good fit for her family. Since then, she has homeschooled all four of her children; two of them have graduated from high school. You can see them in action in the homeschool documentary Class Dismissed.
Kari loves spending time with her kids. When she is not driving them around town, she enjoys hiking, yoga, reading, playing music, watercoloring and knitting. Her joy in homeschooling has led her to discover the fun in everyday living and the advantage of time and flexibility for her kids (and others) to foster their talents and follow their passions. As an educational facilitator for iLEAD, Kari enjoys helping and guiding other families on their homeschooling journey and hopes that they, too, will have a joy-filled adventure!
