About Lara

Lara grew up in Mission Viejo, California and moved to Texas after graduating from college in Washington state. Throughout college and beyond, Lara was regularly involved in summer camps and youth work at church. Interacting with and seeing the ways in which people learn and grow greatly fostered her love for homeschool families and the field of education.

Lara graduated from Western Washington University with a bachelor’s degree in business management. She then received a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction at the University of Texas. She has been an educator for over 15 years in both Texas and California. Lara has also won multiple teaching awards including elementary teacher of the year for her school and school district, ESL teacher of the year for the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, and a nomination by her school district for the U.S. President’s award in mathematics. She finds joy in mentoring student teachers.

Lara has many experiences within the homeschool community herself as a homeschool mom, teacher in a hybrid model, and working alongside a learning center in Aliso Viejo. She lives in Temecula and especially enjoys her family, border collie Piper, homemaking, church, travel, and a good sense of humor.
