About Melissa

Melissa taught 3rd and 4th grade and served as a reading intervention teacher for grades K–6 for over 15 years before joining the charter school world. She graduated from Biola University with a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts and the Torrey Honors College, where she studied books spanning from Plato to Descartes in the classical model. Her undergraduate studies also took her abroad to England, where she obtained her English Emphasis at Oxford University’s Magdalen College. She completed her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential while studying at Biola University and cleared her credential through National University.

Melissa loves engaging learners through discussion, project-based learning, technology, and service projects. In her spare time, she enjoys reading about learning and the brain.

She loves working with iLEAD Exploration families to support them in giving each child the best possible education. Melissa believes that each child is unique, and their education should be just as unique and personal. She is fulfilling a lifelong dream by homeschooling her own children and desires to share that joy with other families as an Educational Facilitator.

When Melissa is not working, she enjoys spending time with her kids. She loves Disneyland, swing dancing, camping, reading, a good cup of espresso, and playing at the beach with her children.
