Extra, Extra, Read All About It… iLEAD Learners Tour the L.A. Times

Exploration learners got an up-close look at the Los Angeles Times newspaper this past week. The field trip began in the 1935 Art Deco Globe Lobby of the Times Building where learners explored the history of the newspaper and observed where the reporters work. Learners enjoyed seeing award-winning articles from 1881 to the present day and note the changes in the paper over time.

The second part of the field trip took place at the Olympic Printing Plant- the West Coast’s largest newspaper printing facility. iLEAD learners observed how the paper is printed and packaged for distribution all over the state. This trip may have inspired some to pursue a career in journalism!
