Learner Spotlight: Ian

Ian is a soft spoken, ambitious seventh grader enjoying his second year with iLEAD Exploration and the 360 program. From athlete to musician, volunteer to leader, he is a shining example of an incredibly dedicated, well-rounded middle schooler.

Sports rank high among Ian’s passions. He’s blocked and dribbled on the court for nine years, and he’s in his eighth year of football, typically playing in two leagues at a time. With a practice schedule that takes dedication, Ian looks for additional ways to improve, often running drills with his dad or participating in various sport camps. He’s been a team captain and quarterback for the past four years. Always eager to help teammates reach their potential, Ian has a knack for explaining plays and fundamentals.

A passion for music runs in the family and Ian’s favorite pastime is playing acoustic guitar, bass, and piano, as well as writing music.

For the past two years, Ian has volunteered as a counselor-coach at Shoreline summer sports camps and as a VBS counselor. Last summer, he joined a mission trip bringing sports camps to San Diego’s inner city neighborhoods.

Looking toward the future, Ian wants to be an NFL quarterback, using his position as a platform to mentor and encourage youth to achieve their dreams. He is on a clear mission to share the belief that kids can do anything they set their minds to. We’re excited to see Ian’s dreams become reality.
