Being a Design Thinker at iLEAD Exploration

At iLEAD Exploration, we believe that being a Design Thinker is an important part of learning and growing. Design Thinkers look at challenges with curiosity, creativity, and a problem-solving mindset. Our learners are encouraged to dream big, try new ideas, and find thoughtful solutions to real-world problems.
Through projects, independent work, and hands-on experiences, iLEAD learners practice empathy, innovation, and perseverance — key traits of great Design Thinkers. Whether it’s designing a new invention, solving a community issue, or finding better ways to organize their time, our learners are always thinking outside the box. At iLEAD Exploration, we believe that every learner has the power to create positive change by thinking like a designer!
Here are a few ways to practice Design Thinking at home:
- Look for a small problem around you (like a messy desk or tricky schedule) and brainstorm creative ways to fix it.
- Ask lots of questions about how everyday things work — then think of ways they could be even better.
- Create a prototype (a simple model) of an invention that could help people in your community.
- Interview a family member or friend about a challenge they face and design a solution to help them.
- Reflect on mistakes as opportunities to improve your design instead of starting over.
Design Thinking is all about experimenting, learning from feedback, and never giving up — and we love seeing our iLEAD learners shine in this important skill!
