Spring Testing: CAASPP and MAP

We hope that your CAASPP testing is going smoothly. Thank you for taking the time to participate in this assessment and supporting our school. Although the end of school is near, we aren’t done yet. As our charter renewal approaches, it is important that we finish strong with our MAP testing. 

Spring MAP Testing: A Tool for Charter Renewal

Spring MAP testing is here! As a charter school in the state of California, we are required to provide another measure of growth through testing outside of state testing (CAASPP). In the iLEAD network, our schools utilize NWEA MAP as an additional tool. 

NWEA MAP spring testing provides crucial data that we can leverage to showcase learner progress over the course of the academic year. By measuring learner growth from the beginning to the end of the year, MAP offers tangible evidence of the effectiveness of our school’s instructional programs and interventions, demonstrating accountability to our charter authorizer. 

This year’s spring MAP window is open! Here are a few things to remember about spring MAP testing to ensure your learners are showing their growth: 

• Break up the assessment (shorter sessions on multiple days) to ensure best results. 
• Know there is time: If there are areas of limited growth, we still have time and resources to try interventions. 
• Getting your learners excited about showing what they know and how they have grown creates ownership so that it’s not just another assessment. 
• Consider using RIT scores and growth targets in each learner’s ILP next year to help set specific goals for your learners to work toward.
