   Virtual College Fair

iLEAD Exploration will be participating in our second annual virtual college fair on May 11, from 3:30-6:00 pm. The CAL ALT (California Alternative education) fair is hosted by a group of Southern California charter schools including iLEAD Exploration!

This fair is the perfect opportunity for learners to speak directly with college representatives, to learn about a wide variety of colleges and ask important questions about classes, majors, dorm life, and clubs. Learners will be able to explore new colleges across the country and around the world.

Please register here so you can receive more information as the fair draws near.  After registering, you will receive a link to the fair website and you can start exploring colleges.

Learners are welcome to bring friends from traditional schools as well as family members, but please have each person register separately.

Art Club

Zion Garrett, Art Club President

iLEAD’s Art Club is a space for creatives to come together, share their works, and grow in their artistic journey. We try to make each meeting better than the last by introducing and teaching a new topic. The club remains full of life thanks to the members sharing their creations and building bonds. The Art Club is a colorful and friendly place for all — new artists and old. To find out more information, fill out Join a Club!

High School Spotlight:  Magnolia Quiñones

Hi, my name is Magnolia Quiñones. I am a learner in 10th grade and I have been with iLEAD for four and a half years. Some of my interests have been MMA (Mixed Martial Arts), community service projects, and volunteering. My passion has a lot to do with being social and helping others the most I can. Some of my talents are public speaking and managing big tasks.

iLEAD allows flexibility and teaches the importance of prioritizing future goals. My future goals include having my own business and finding my passion in something related to law or working with the government. iLEAD has given me great opportunities to find classes related to these areas of interest in civil rights, business, marketing, forensic science, and the stock market.

Thanks to iLEAD, I have managed to accomplish many of my goals and be a part of great things outside of academics, while still having my focus on school. I have been a part of the Los Angeles Youth Missionaries, as a leader for the program that guides teenagers to find their relationship with God. Another great program I am a part of is the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Academy for Youth. This 18-week-long program teaches responsibility, dedication, commitment, and various aspects of law enforcement. This program is open to anyone ages 14-20, from all cities. Learners who graduate from this program have the opportunity to go back to their city and serve at events for the community, expand their social circle, and be involved in an environment that fosters success.

The last program that I am happy to be a part of is the American Red Cross. There is a never-ending opportunity to go above and beyond with helping others all over the country. I have been a part of the disaster action team helping families who have been involved in fires, had their homes destroyed, and or been a part of a natural disaster. We learn CPR, help change fire alarms in homes, interact with the Fire Department, and help our community.

Magnolia, we are very proud of you and all you have done to serve those around you.  Thank you for your service!
