High School Spotlight: Kate Lin

Kate Lin
Hello, I am Kate Mina Lin. I am a student at iLEAD, and I am also a professional singer, actor and dancer in the entertainment industry. I started out as a dancer when I was 6 years old and was dancing competitively by 8 years old. I began singing at 9 years old after an audition in New York for The Lion King on Broadway. I didn’t have much experience in vocals and acting at that time, so I decided to give it a shot. I became more and more interested in music, began learning all styles of voice, and started to take acting classes.

I got my first entertainment agent at 9 years old and my first dance agency at 10. Throughout my career as a young artist, I started out with small jobs such as commercials and guest star appearances. I then started booking bigger jobs like movies and tv shows. I went to Orange County School of the Arts, in the Musical Theatre Conservatory, from 7th grade until the end of the first semester of my sophomore year. During the fall of 2019, I booked a workshop for a brand new musical in New York. I missed so much school that it was hard for me to catch up. This was when I realized that I needed to go back to independent studying.

Through iLEAD, I am able to get work done at my own pace. My schedule changes constantly, so it is a great help for me to be able to easily adjust my school time to my work schedule. Since it is independent study, I am able to learn in ways that work best for me. When I get called for a job, I am able to take my school with me which is one of the main reasons why I transferred to iLEAD. My facilitators always make sure that I understand what I am learning and that my education isn’t negatively affected by my work. Thank you iLEAD for helping me achieve my goals and work towards my dreams.

We are proud of you, Kate, and all that you are accomplishing!  You have much to be proud of!
