The PSAT 8/9 is a test that will help your learner(s) be better prepared for college when they graduate from high school. It tests the same skills and knowledge as the SAT, PSAT/NMSQT, and PSAT 10 — in a way that makes sense for your grade level.
Why take the PSAT?
The PSAT 8/9 is specifically for eighth and ninth grade learners.
It reflects the work that learners are doing in school.
The test focuses on the knowledge, skills and understanding that research has identified as most important for college and career readiness/success.
There is an emphasis on the meaning of words in extended contexts and on how word choice shapes meaning, tone and impact.
The scoring is rights-only (a point for a correct answer but no deduction for an incorrect answer; blank responses have no impact on scores).
Taking the test connects learners with opportunities including free personalized practice tools on Khan Academy.
When and where will the PSAT 8/9 be administered?
