MAP Testing

388088-PC4BSQ-224

As we wrap up our Spring MAP testing window, we wanted to give you a short explanation of the scores that you will be receiving. When learners finish their MAP test they receive a number called a RIT score for each area they are tested in: reading, language usage, math, or science. This score represents a student’s achievement level at any given moment and helps measure their academic growth over time. The scores are NOT targets or benchmarks; they are mean scores. The mean score tells you the average score of most learners at a given point in time at a particular grade level.

In addition, the Reading Lexile score can be found on the Student Profile Report as well as Student Progress Report. This score is useful when determining both  instructional and independent reading levels. You can visit the NWEA site to learn more about lexile scores and book examples connected to lexile scores.
