PSAT Testing

Do you have a college-bound 9th or 10th grader? You may be thinking about participating in the Preliminary SAT (PSAT).

The PSAT is an optional test that measures knowledge and skills in reading, math, writing and language. It is designed to predict performance on the SAT exam, which is typically taken during the spring of the learner’s junior year. It is also used to determine eligibility for participating in the highly competitive National Merit Scholarship Program. The date for the PSAT this calendar year is Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2018.

If your learner is only seeking practice for the SAT exam, taking the PSAT at a testing site is not necessary. Full PSAT tests are available for free on the College Board website and are a great way to prepare for the SAT exam in the fall.

If your learner is interested in competing as a National Merit Scholar, then they will be required to take the PSAT at a local public or private school that is offering the exam. You will need to request that they order an additional test for your learner. You may also contact the College Board at 866-433-7728 or psathelp@info.collegeboard.org. You will use iLEAD Hybrid code, 054846. Soteric Academy is available as a testing location for learners who live closer to Orange County. Stay tuned for Los Angeles locations.
