Curriculum Corner – How to Use iLEAD’s Subscription Package

Here are some of the past subjects covered:

All of the learners at iLEAD Exploration have access to an amazing subscription package! Some of you may be wondering how to utilize the different subscriptions to support learning. One way to utilize the subscriptions is to supplement a topic or unit study with some of the great videos, lessons, assessments, worksheets and books from the different subscriptions. Let’s use the topic of sharks to demonstrate how to do this.

Enchanted Learning

To find topics at Enchanted Learning , the best way to search is to locate the topic index after logging in. After clicking on sharks, you will see numerous resources! One of the great resources from Enchanted Learning are their diagrams. There are 30 shark diagrams available to print out and learn about different sharks. There are also math, writing, and poem worksheets on sharks. There is also a shark coloring book for younger learners.

Discovery Streaming

Discovery Streaming is an excellent resource for finding short video clips and full-length videos on almost any topic. Use the search tool to find all of the videos on sharks. There are over 400 shark videos to choose from. The videos range from documentaries to cartoon stories. Magic School Bus videos are even available on Discovery Streaming and there are several ocean episodes. Short encyclopedia articles are also available to read about sharks. One way to search on Discovery Streaming is to sort by “Most Popular” and see what others are watching on the topic you are searching for. “The Magic School Bus Takes a Dive” is the most popular video for sharks and has been viewed nearly three million times!

BrainPop

BrainPop is another fun resource for families! If you want to search for a topic, type it into the search tool. There is a video on “Shark Attacks” and some fun activities to go with it. Your learner can begin by watching the informative video on shark attacks. Next, your child can take the quiz on the video to see how much he/she remembered. BrainPop also has a graphing activity, a writing page and a vocabulary lesson for you to print out for your learner if you would like to learn more about sharks. You can also explore other related topics to sharks like “Oceans” and “Food Chains.”

Moby Max

Moby Max can not really be used for a topic/unit study. There is no place to search for a certain topic, so it’s a great place to take a break and enjoy some engaging and educational games.

One great tool on Moby Max is their reading and math level placement assessment. Your learner can take a reading level placement test by clicking on the Reading Level Assessment icon and the math level assessment by clicking on the math icon.

Your learner can practice math facts, enhance writing skills, learn informational and literature reading skills, improve vocabulary, learn about science topics or increase grammar skills with this subscription. Kids enjoy earning badges and opening up games when they complete lessons on Moby Max.
