In honor of Women’s History Month and this month’s SLO, optimism, let’s take a minute to learn of the accomplishments of Marie Curie. Her optimism seemed to have no bounds! At a time when women were forbidden from attending college, she attended an “underground” university to satisfy her hunger for learning. As a result, brilliant scientists made great steps for women in this early STEM movement. She discovered two periodic table elements and earned two Nobel prizes in her lifetime for working to advance existing X-ray technology.
