About Caylen

Caylen recently moved to the Santa Clarita area and was so delighted to find iLEAD and become an educational facilitator! A few years ago, she developed the vision of supporting independent studying families after teaching a variety of subjects in public and private schools and then independent studying one of her own children. Through that experience with her child, she could see the wonders of what can be done in the independent study setting. It has been a dream come true!

She received her B.A. in French and teaching credential from CSU Sacramento. As a parent volunteer in cooperative preschool, she took coursework in child guidance from Clark College in Washington. She has lived in and visited various countries (Europe, Middle East, South America), and has intercultural and interfaith experience as well. Her exchange student experience in France was a major catalyst, which launched the desire to foster understanding between cultures through education. She believes in the “joy of discovery” that comes from those “aha” moments when encountering new things. There are endless opportunities!

Fond of family, she is a part of her grandchildren’s lives assisting the ones close by with independent studying issues and the ones abroad with fun exchanges over video chats.

Caylen lives with her cat, and can be found cooking, hiking, swimming, dancing, and doing crafts in her free time.
