Book Club for Grades 3rd-5th: Brown Girl Dreaming

Third through fifth grade learners are invited to join this virtual book club opportunity. Brown Girl Dreaming is a memoir written in verse. It is Jacqueline Woodson’s experiences growing up in South Carolina and New York during the changing landscape of the 1960s and 1970s. We will learn about Civil Rights leaders that inspired her. As we see Woodson find her voice and share her dreams, we will explore our own dreams and write our own poetry.

This book club will start in LP5 and go through LP6. We will be reading this book together, rather than reading on our own.
