Book Club for Grades 6th-8th: Stories of Edgar Allan Poe

Through the poetry and short stories of Poe, learners will explore figurative language, and literary devices – imagery, diction, metaphor, repetition, tone, and more. Learners will have multiple Poe options to choose from each week and, because of the content of Poe stories, learners will be given a full synopsis before choosing what stories and poems they want to read. Topics for each week will be poetry, science fiction, metaphor, rivals.

Optional Movie Day: November 3, selected animated versions of Poe stories.
Any complete collection of Poe stories will work for this class; all Poe stories are in the public domain and available online. Learners will be provided links and documents to access the chosen titles.
