Exploring the Arts: Shakespeare Kids Fall Opportunity, La Canada, Grades 6-12

Join us for a fun and exciting 8 week program of rehearsing and performing scenes from some of Shakespeare’s most popular works. Scripts are edited from the original text keeping the Elizabethan English. Through physical and theatrical exercises, learners will explore how to create and develop a character, understand Shakespeare and use their voices and bodies to tell this great story. Learners will also learn stage combat techniques. Learners will develop new levels of body awareness, safety skills and teamwork. The last day of the program will end with a live presentation. This class is a supportive space where making bold acting choices is encouraged while learning teamwork and gaining confidence. All learners will get a speaking role (if they so desire) with memorized lines. Learners will provide their own costumes and necessary props at a minimal cost with our support and guidance.
