THE GOLD RUSH ON THE FARM
This historic field trip combines the best of our Pioneer Arts and engages the GILCHRIST FARM MINING COMPANY SLUICE to deliver an incredible field trip aligned with the California State Standards!!! Delivered in period costumes, taught from a real historical perspective ALIVE with FARM FUN!!!! Pan for gold, spin wool, and dip candles. You will even get to pet donkeys. Each student will receive REAL GOLD FLAKES to take home.

Gold was discovered in California in 1848. Imagine traveling a thousand miles just for a chance to find your fortune. After you arrive, you will be greeted by local miners bearing the news of the MOTHER LODE. Head straight on up to the long tom sluice, the mine, and the gold fields! Get supplies and start digging and panning!
Throughout your visit, you’ll learn about 49er life, including the feuds between the farmers and the miners and how gold was found. You might even learn the hard way about supply and demand. How could someone be charged $100 for a glass of water and $1,500 for rent? Find out how the millionaires made their money!
This tour’s educational content is aimed at the 4th grade curriculum and aligned with California State Standards in 4.3 and 4.4.

- 4th-8th graders are welcomed
- One parent/guardian per family is included
- Day of details will be emailed a few days prior
