About Carlee

A previous independent studying mom of 3 boys, Carlee Barnes is excited to help other independent study families on their journeys. Carlee has her B.A. from Westmont College in Communication Studies, a multiple subject teaching credential, and a Master’s in Education from National University. She independent studyed for 7 years in multiple grades and student taught Kindergarten in a traditional classroom.

Her favorite memories independent studying her boys are all the field trips and hands on experiences that they had: the museums, nature hikes, and outings that shaped their learning experiences. Carlee loves anything outdoors – hiking, paddle boarding, water skiing, kayaking, and also can be found curled up with a book by a fire when the weather turns.
