About Jennifer

Jennifer received her bachelor’s degree in liberal arts with an emphasis in sociology and a minor in education, as well as her multiple subject credential from the University of California in Riverside. She taught second grade for six years in public school prior to independent studying her own children from birth through high school. She cherished her independent studying days. Jennifer has been part of co-ops, charter schools, and independent study resource centers. She has experienced the different options available to parents and is familiar with independent study resources.

Having been a independent studying parent, Jennifer has a heart for teaching and greatly appreciates and understands the independent study family-centered lifestyle and philosophy to learning. Sensitive to children’s different learning styles and modalities, she knows how to offer alternative curriculum, schedules and learning environments to engage even the most reluctant student and to create the most positive and individual learning approach for all learners. Jennifer believes independent studying is a journey for both the student and the parent, and her passion is to be a support and encouragement for other families.
