About Melissa
Melissa has been in the education field for over 20 years as a teacher in both the private and public sectors, teaching in the classroom setting in the Sulphur Springs School District and partnering with independent study families, as well as being a studio teacher for minors in the entertainment industry. She served as the director of the Santa Clarita Christian School independent study Academy and enjoys being able to guide families in finding the most optimal learning opportunities to support their children’s needs to thrive as learners.
She received her Bachelor of Art degree from the College of Creative Studies at UC Santa Barbara, majoring in art. She received a multiple subject teaching credential through Cal State Northridge, and then subsequent single subject teaching credentials in English and Art. In addition, she has a love of utilizing and incorporating technology in education and has a Master of Science in Educational Technology from National University.
She lives in the Santa Clarita Valley along with her husband and 12-year-old daughter. You can find her at track and cross-country meets almost every weekend cheering on her daughter and her team. She has two Siberian huskies named Shuja and Tundra. She enjoys traveling to new places, reading, watching movies, and most recently, creating new 3-D printed projects.
