Book Club: ‘El Deafo’ for Grades 3-5
Join this book club to read El Deafo by Cece Bell, an amazing, hilarious, and moving graphic novel (comic book style). In Cece’s old class, all of her classmates were deaf. As she starts a new school, she will be wearing a hearing aid. At first, this makes her feel self-conscious, but then she makes an exciting discovery: “With the Phonic Ear, she can hear her teacher not just in the classroom but anywhere her teacher is in the school—in the hallway . . . in the teacher’s lounge . . . in the bathroom! This is power. Maybe even superpower! Cece is on her way to becoming El Deafo, Listener for All.” Join us as we discover together how Cece uses her new powers.
When: Thursdays at 10 AM on November 30, December 7, and December 14.
