SLO Zest

Zest

Each month, we will focus on one Schoolwide Learner Outcome, or SLOgan of the month, which helps everyone at iLEAD work on an area for growth and success together! For LP 9, our SLOgan is zest.

Zest is all about enthusiasm! Zest, alongside curiosity, can help drive learners to pursue new and challenging things in the face of barriers and difficulties. Zest can help learners access great rewards in their learning journeys. When you’ve got zest, you put your full energy into new things and new learning.

Here are some resources and ideas to explore zest:

  • Talk about the “I can…” statement for zest with your learners: “I actively participate in my learning; I approach new situations with excitement and energy.”
  • With younger children, organize a dance party or energetic game, or go for a run or a bike ride.
  • Make up a dance routine and film it for the grandparents!
  • Construct an obstacle course in the backyard and have time trials!
  • Do something that really energizes you, such as painting or playing music or talking to a friend.
  • Revisit an activity that used to get you in the zone.
  • Plan a hypothetical adventure. Where could you go? What would excite you about this?
  • Practice good sleep habits, and make sure you are well rested.
  • Cut out and decorate your SLO badge for LP 9.
