Schoolwide Learner Outcome: Curiosity and Critical Thinking
The SLOgans of this month are CURIOSITY and CRITICAL THINKING. Below are a few activities you can use to learn more.
Additional Activities for Curiosity:
- Spin a globe, stop on a location and spend time learning about it: read library books about it, watch documentaries, cook a local recipe, explore how kids live in that location.
- Investigate the rules to a game or sport that you’ve heard of but know nothing about: disc golf, cricket, jai alai, toe wrestling, backgammon, mahjong. Once you learn the rules, play the game!
- Think of a topic that you only know a little about. Brainstorm 5-10 questions about the topic that you would like answered. Answer 3 of those questions by the end of the day.
- Ignite your curiosity with Pacific Science Center and by watching live science shows, completing a hands-on STEM activity, and much more!
Additional Activities for Critical Thinking:
- Research a topic of your choice using many different resources. Then synthesize all the information you gathered.
- Try to solve The Sort Hat Challenge.
- Solve the Connect the Nine Dots with Four Lines puzzle.
- High school learners: Complete the youscience survey through SCOIR. If you don’t have an account set up, reach out to your EF.
