Authentic Individual
As we move into the third month of the school year, it’s a great time to pause and consider how we’re nurturing our learners to become “Authentic Individuals.” This learner outcome focuses on encouraging learners to be true to themselves—valuing their unique personalities, dreams, and beliefs. By integrating authenticity into your daily practices with your learners, you can help them develop a strong sense of self that will guide them throughout their lives.
In an independent study setting, there’s a unique opportunity to create learning experiences that truly reflect each learner’s passions and values. This month, we invite you to explore ways to support your child in bringing their own unique gifts to the world. Encourage them to express their thoughts honestly and respectfully, align their actions with their values, and take care of their well-being.
A simple way to start could be by encouraging your child to create a personal vision board. A vision board allows learners to explore and celebrate their unique values, dreams, and goals. By gathering images and words that represent what brings them joy, motivates them, and reminds them of their values, learners create a visual reminder of what truly matters to them. This activity not only encourages self-reflection but also provides a tangible way to stay connected to their personal aspirations and principles.
