High School Club Spotlight
Creative Writing Club
Maia Longhenry, Club President
Creative Writing Club is a way for high school students of all ages to come together once per month to write using a prompt chosen by one of the club leaders. Meetings start out with an icebreaker, followed by time given for writing, and then each member is given the opportunity to share what they wrote when the time is up (but only if they want to). Whether one member’s story takes a dark turn that no one was expecting, or another member chooses to write about a real experience with traces of science fiction, this club gives all of us a chance to use our imaginations. While listening to someone else’s writing, members are so engaged and often provide positive feedback afterward. Everyone in the Creative Writing Club is so supportive of one another, and the environment is so kind and welcoming that being a part of the club is a lot of fun.
