Play Save The Dinosaurs!

Presentations of Learning

iLEAD Exploration 9th grade learner Jonah Garcia was inspired to create his own video game project to showcase what he learned about coding last semester and to help him become a more creative person. He found the high-level thinking necessary to devise new codes and to keep his game unique to be a fun and challenging task.

iLEAD Exploration 9th grade learner Jonah Garcia

Jonah’s process began with some intense brainstorming about what he wanted the game to look like and how he would go about making it work as he imagined. Some things he had to consider: what codes to use, how to combine multiple codes effectively, and how to make the game both straightforward and fun. One of the biggest challenges he faced was how to combine codes so they don’t overlap and also to showcase his ability to write effective code.

Jonah went the extra mile in completing this project because he believed he was capable of more and that he could make the game better and more intricate. His advice to anyone attempting something like this is to push yourself and add little details to make the game special and all your own — something to be proud of when you’re finished.

Jonah’s game is playable at Save the Dinosaurs.
