Book Club for Grades 3rd-5th: Brown Girl Dreaming
Third through fifth grade learners are invited to join this virtual book club opportunity beginning January 18. Brown Girl Dreaming is a memoir written in verse. It details Jacqueline Woodson’s experiences growing up in South Carolina and New York during the changing landscape of the 1960s and 1970s. We will learn about civil rights leaders who inspired her. As we see Woodson find her voice and share her dreams, we will explore our own dreams and write our own poetry.
This book club will start in LP5 and continue through LP6. We will be reading this book together, rather than reading on our own.
Book Club meetings are on Thursdays at 10 AM on the following dates:
- January 18
- January 25
- February 1
- February 8
- February 15
- February 22
- February 29
