October Learner Outcome – Empathy
As we embark on our third month of the school year, we want to remind you to pause and ensure you are weaving the learner outcomes into your daily practices with your learners. Our focus this month is developing Empathetic Citizens. Empathy begins at home, and by nurturing a sense of understanding and kindness in your daily interactions, you help build a foundation for your learner to connect deeply with others. Encourage your child to listen actively during conversations, recognize the feelings of others, and engage in acts of kindness both inside and outside the home. Simple practices like asking your learner how someone else might feel in a situation or encouraging them to express appreciation can create meaningful opportunities for empathy. Through modeling empathetic behavior in everyday routines — such as sharing responsibilities, resolving conflicts peacefully, and supporting friends and family in times of need — you can help your learner cultivate compassion as a natural part of their character.
