Teen Photographers: Open Call

The Getty Youth Development team is thrilled to announce that Getty Unshuttered is partnering with Amplifier to launch the second annual open call for teen photographers ages 13-19. As we continue to navigate the ongoing challenges of this pandemic, we invite teens to explore a creative outlet as they reflect on and develop new ways of connecting, framed by our 2022 theme, “Reconnecting with ____.”
Learners will capture and submit original portraits (both traditional and nontraditional) capturing who or what they are reconnecting with right now — be it with themselves, community, nature, creativity or other themes. There are countless possibilities.
In conjunction with the open call, Amplifier has created a multimedia lesson plan that teaches learners how to break down and produce powerful photographic portraits that convey a message documenting what they are reconnecting with in their lives right now.
Top curators and creatives at the J. Paul Getty Museum and Amplifier will review and select 20 winning photographs. Some of Amplifier’s top artists will then work with the winners to transform their photographs into Amplifier-style posters.
Teen photographers can submit their work until April 1st to win a chance to have their photo included in a J. Paul Getty Museum special exhibition opening to the public in June 2022!
The Open Call launches on February 15th! Learn more about submission details: https://community.amplifier.org/campaign/reconnecting-with/
