Learner Spotlight: Lana Zuccala

During my time at iLEAD, I have been fortunate to explore a multitude of interests that have greatly influenced my personal and academic journey. One particular passion that has flourished within the nurturing environment of iLEAD is ice skating. With iLEAD’s flexible approach to learning, I have been able to allocate significant time to develop my ice skating skills. Customizing my learning schedule has allowed me to dedicate ample hours to practice on the ice and participate in local, regional, national, and international competitions. This flexibility has been transformative, as it has enabled me to work closely with coaches and attend training sessions during the day while maintaining steady academic progress. The independent study program at iLEAD has truly empowered me to strike a harmonious balance between my dedication to ice skating and my academic pursuits.

Furthermore, iLEAD has opened doors for me to engage in concurrent enrollment, an opportunity I eagerly embraced. By enrolling in college-level courses while still in high school, I have gained invaluable exposure to higher-level academics beyond the traditional curriculum. This immersive experience has allowed me to delve into subjects like creative writing and higher-level math, providing me with college credits as I matriculate into college. The early exposure to college-level coursework at iLEAD has not only prepared me for the academic rigor
of future studies but has also empowered me to make informed decisions about my academic and professional aspirations.

Within the realm of digital arts, iLEAD has provided unwavering support for my artistic endeavors. The school’s emphasis on personalized learning has allowed me to explore various creative avenues, including painting, drawing, and illustration. The freedom to express myself artistically has nurtured my passion for digital arts, igniting a desire to pursue a career in animation after graduating from iLEAD.

As I near the end of my journey at iLEAD, I am filled with profound gratitude for the inclusive and inspiring community that has fostered my growth and supported my diverse interests. The safe and stimulating learning environment has left an indelible impact on me, and I am confident that the skills and experiences I have acquired at iLEAD will play a pivotal role in shaping my future endeavors. While my time at iLEAD may soon come to a close, the memories, friendships, and knowledge I have gained will forever hold a cherished place in my heart as I embark on the next chapter of my academic and professional pursuits.
