Black history

February is Black History Month. We are honored to celebrate the achievements and contributions of African American culture. There are many ways to learn more about this rich history and its societal impacts. Below are some events and resources that you may want to investigate:

Aquarium of the Pacific’s African-American Festival

California African American Museum

African American Firefighter Museum

The Museum of African American Art

The San Bernardino County Museum

On Sunday, February 23, the streets in South LA will be open for a six mile route connecting South Central, Florence-Firestone and Watts. Bike, skate, run, walk, skateboard, and enjoy the route however you want. People of all ages and abilities are welcome! To learn more, visit their website!

Lastly, there are several lessons you can incorporate into your studies.
