Creative Computing
We are excited to bring to your attention a free course that takes computing to a new level: Creative Computing. Presented free of charge by Harvard and introducing the Scratch language, Creative Computing is an easily accessible program that draws on the interests of the learner instead of emphasizing functionality and form.
As a high school learner in the technology age, computers and computer skills are a requirement. Most homeschooled high school learners are in some type of online or virtual course, and are expected to write papers, complete projects and respond to emails from their educational facilitators. These things involve using a computer for simple functional tasks. Creative Computing is a unique opportunity to be a participant in the world of computer technology!
Their website describes this course:
“Many young people with access to computers participate as consumers, rather than designers or creators. Creative computing emphasizes the knowledge, practices, and fundamental literacies that young people need to create the types of dynamic and interactive computational media that they enjoy in their daily lives.”
Be sure to check out this course, download the free workbook and get creating! Who knows? This might be the start of a future in computing!
